Cooling System

Asked by Kidwithwonders Aug 28, 2016 at 04:35 PM about the 2005 Dodge Neon SXT Sedan FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have the check engine light on, i got a p0420,
p0304,  & p0522. Sometimes when i start the car
itll feel like its about to shut off, or ill crank and it
wont turn on all the way. At stops the car pulsates,
and vibrates on park. Used to have an overheating
problem, but now it comes and goes. A couple of
days ago i took a long drive, & it was rising, had the
heater on the way back home. I checked my
coolant level, it was empty. But its weird tho,
because a week ago it was full. Any help would be
nice.

check head gasket, check for white "gunk" under oil filler, check all hoses around the cooling system. from what I read now its sounds you are getting a coolant leak inside the combustuin chamber, again possibly head gasket, if it been like this a while the head is probably warped and will need machining or replacing, my advice to you is to find a specialist qualified technician to diagnose your automobiles malfunctioning head gasket

not the filter, THE FILLER PLUG ON TOP OF THE MOTOR underneath that, the orange looking kinda liquid is the coolant itself, water and antifreeze. if you see the gunk under the filler plug your head gasket is gone, thats the only way of checking it, also visually look around the motor and check for leaks
