What can be wrong with starter problems in 2005 dodge neon

Installed new starter 6 months ago in dodge 2005 neon. first starter was supposedly defective got new one on warranty.  Now out of blue starter gives out again sounds like fly wheel not engaging. what could be causing problem.

Take off starter and look at the teeth on the fly wheel they missing or may be tore up. Then check the teeth on starter too. Teeth on starter and fly wheel have to b good enough (not ground down by wear) to mesh & work.
