P300 code, I have been getting a p304 code and have done the usual stuff. Plugs,ignition coil, plug wires. Car runs fine, shakes a little when at a stop but runs good otherwise.

When I start the car it seems to lag when

The po300 code is a random misfire, since you replaced plug wires and plugs, Water in the gas can cause this. The po304 indicates a problem with #4 cylinder not firing properly, normal causes would be a plug, or wire, and or a coil for this cylinder. Since plugs & wires have been replaced, the coil would need to be checked out. Last would be a bad cylinder compression. Would do a compression test.

Did a compression test today. Cylinder 1 was 120 #2 was 120 #3 was 90 #4 80. Did a "wet" compression test on #4 it shot up to 120. So now what is the motor junk or should I just drive it till it dies. Lol

Drive it till it dies, Dodge Neon really not worth anything but scrap price, so ya you have a dying engine. Compression shooting up to 120 means the rings are bad. Looks like more than one cylinder is bad. Sorry...

We just purchased a used 1995 Dodge Neon and we are having problems with it. The problem is the car will drive for approximately 15 to 20 minutes and the engine begins to jump and miss. When this occurs, we stop the car and let it cool for 10 to 15 minutes and then it will go for about 8 miles (10 to 15 minutes) and will start missing and jumping again. We took it to advance auto and they used a computer diagnostic machine and told us the ignition coil was malfunctioning, so we replaced it but it is still doing the same thing (missing and jumping). My wife says she smells a gas/fuel smell when it starts. Also, thought I had water in the gas tank, so I used dry gas but that didn't help either.
