no forward or reverse for a few seconds.

Came off the highway and when i came to a stop my 2006 cherokee laredo
would not go forward or reverse. I put it in park and then back to drive and it
was fine, was able to back it in garage no problem. No funny noises, all wheels
were turning.  Any ideas?

Could be low on fluid or the transmission is getting tired.
