2001 Chevy Venture is stuck in park

Asked by Feb 26, 2017 at 01:02 PM about the 2001 Chevrolet Venture Base

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

The van starts, but when I try to shift from park to drive it will not budge. Had a
problem before where the shift gear moved freely but we fixed that and now
this. I can't afford to take it to a shop to have it looked at. This is my only
means of transportation. Please help me figure this out.

Have you tried to put you key in the hole by the shifter and moving it that way

I don't know what hole you're talking about. Do you have a picture of it by chance?

On the left side of the p there should be a place to put your key in to be able to shift it into gear

Doesn't have that type of gear shifter

I don't know about 2001, but my Chev Venture 2005 you have to press hard on the brake, hold and then shift from Park to whatever gear you want. Works for me...
