What damage can be caused by this low oil pressure?

A few months ago the dealership did not replace the oil gasket properly after an oil change and the low oil pressure light came on about 2wks later. Since then I've had to have some cam thing replaced for $1400 and now my check engine light has come on again. Could this all be a result of low oil pressure?

Thank you - I was fortunate that there was a VW dealer about 2 miles away and replaced everything...even though they were about to close for the evening.
