According to: http://www.redlinemotive.com/store/replacement/part.asp?year=2000&make=GM&model=S15S-EXT_CAB 2000 Sonoma 4Cylinder 2WD 2.2liter has a timing chain

well yes, you can expect 100,000 miles out of a chain...perhaps 200,000, but the tensioner runs out of room and it starts sounding like a coffee can full of marbles...then is the time to replace the chain tensioner and wear surfaces...for a smooth runnin' engine~

nip it in the bud by replacing that at 60,000 miles and worry no more about it~
