Being a diesel engine, my first thought is the fuel filter is clogged and needs replaced. Also scan for codes. If you have more than 100,000 miles, the timing belt may have jumped timing. It can be inspected for wear without tearing the engine apart. Stay away from dealerships. Independent shops can do this work cheaper.
