Key remote stopped working,

Asked by Jared6969 Jun 01, 2019 at 04:31 AM about the 2002 Volkswagen Jetta GLS 1.8T

Question type: General

Sone reason my key remote all just stopped
working for keyless lock, unlock and opening trunk.
It has a new battery and I've tried putting it in the
ignition and turning it to on position then holding
the lock button formula and it didn't work. Anybody
be able to help me reset it or whatever needs to be
done. Has brand new batteries too

The battery terminals have dislocated themselves from the circuit board inside the remote. Simply split it in half and solder the terminals back in. Reprogramming may be necessary which is usually done by turning the ignition on and off in a particular sequence and pressing unlock buttons. May have to google your specific vehicle to get exact procedure.

I heard something similar to that as well. i wanted a newer key fob but I keep hearing in order to do that I would have to re order a new one from the dealer at $175. But in turn the key is replaced and everything in the fob has to be in synch with the car specs and the way it was engineered to operate. I tried to get just the plastic part of the fob replaced... still a pain in the neck because of the synch ops. best wishes btw
