Battery Change now key doesn't work

Asked by Guru5ZJCJ Dec 26, 2017 at 05:46 PM about the 2012 Chrysler 200 LX Sedan FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I just took my 2012 Chrysler 200 in for a batter change, and now my key no
longer works. The buttons on the remote do nothing, and they key also will
not lock/unlock the doors when tried manually. I can start the car with the key,
but there now seems to be some hesitation as if the car is thinking about
whether or not it's actually going to turn over which was not there before. I
tested the battery they just installed and it is perfectly fine...not really sure
what could have happened...

Was a saver tool used before the battery was removed? If not then you will have to have the dealer reflash the computer system. It is imperative that this tool be used anytime any electrical work is going to be done.

The battery change was done at Pep Boys and while they claim they use a saver tool, I have no way of knowing for sure. I guess that will be the first and last time I have any work done there. Thanks for the help

Oh man some shops just don’t care, they won’t stay up with emerging technologies and hope they can just skate by.
