Cracked block
Well I had plans to change the head gaskets on my '06 stratus 2.4L only to find a 5" crack in the block
after I removed the front exhaust! My question is, are there any cons to just replacing the block and
transferring my components to the new block? Of course I plan on changing the timing belt, water pump
and gaskets, but I can save a great deal of money in just replacing the block if I can. Thanks.
It's more work but there's no problem doing it that way. Assemble the major parts out on the engine stand.
If it's not of any consequence, and oil or coolant does not leak out of it, you could just ignore it~
Thanks guys, looks like I'm in for a couple of long weekends...judge...due to the crack the head gasket is either broken or has a gap in it so it leaks and smokes.
