My thermostat is leaking coolant and my 2006 dodge stratus is running 1/2 hot on the gauge.if I need to replace my thermoatat will the check enging light come on?

I would check to see weither its a hose leaking or the therostat. Like the other guy fix the leak then add proper amount of coolant. Should stop the leaking and the heating problem.
