on front seeing that an escape is primary front drive until one of the front wheels slips do you think the difference in tread depth will be harmful I'm thinking it would be better than having a baldy on the front as is now

If the tires are the same size, it shouldn't be a problem. I would suggest investing in a 4 wheel alignment as it sounds like you have some tire wear issues.

Thanks there appear to be many conflicting ideas on types of awd on demand full time etc I read anything in the manual that ford says you can't just Change a pair but also even a complete set would wear differently and as in the case of the last owner probably wasn't big on tire rotations thank you for your input

My 2008 Ford Escape AWD floor matts keep getting soaked. I thought I had fixed it by making sure the sunroof was closed properly, but it has continued. I have tried to figure out where this is coming from and finally after drying them out again I laid under the the vehicle and both on the drivers side in the middle of the front floor area and the passanger side there is a small hole about the size of a dine right in the middle. That would account for the water coming in after rain storms and such, but why would these two holes be there? Was there a drain area there with plugs and they are missing? Can I have a piece of metal welded over them? Don't know why they would be there. Doesn't seem to be a rust issue as it is frim all around these small holes. 7 Answers
