Is it possible to put a 3 inch lift to the rear of my '06 AWD Dodge Magnum??
I had some front end work done to my car. It now sits almost 2 Inches
higher than the rear end. I have wide 22 inch wheels and my rear fender
rubs and slices the top outside corner of both rear tires when go over
speed bumps and thru dips in the road. Imagine how slow and sideways
i'm going with passengers in the back. My wheels stick out further than the
width of my car, but not too much. I feel that a 3 inch lift to the rear will give
me the clearance and wheel room with passengers in the back or luggage.
Yeah sure, go on line and find a lift kit for your vehicle.
I've tried...but nothing haven't been able to find one specific for my AWD! Also, i've asked around too and everyone I've manged to contact has either never seen it done before or have never heard of it being done before. Others were nervous of even attempting it because of the AWD...
Right, lifting an AWD vehicle can be tricky, too much and the axles c/v joints suffer, you might consider a subframe lift for the rear suspension, of course all of this will have to be custom made for the vehicle. Or you could get rid of the oversized wheels and get something that will fit under and inside the wheel wells, that would be the best thing too do.
@tennishsoes - Subframe lift? This is the first i'm hearing of this. Any chance you can elaborate on that for me? Sounds interesting!! Im guessing custom made springs would cause some problems in the long run as well??
Anyone know if spacers would work? which kind?
Your on the right track, body lift spacers should work, you will need to carefully measure the diameter, height and mounting hole to make sure it won't shift during the vehicles normal everyday operations. If the whole subframe is lifted you should not have to worry about springs, plus you could also use spring bed spacers there too if that looks like it might be a problem. I still think reducing the wheels size would be a smarter move though.
