I have a 2006 Dodge Charger, its been running perfectly. Until this afternoon I got in and started it, it is making a loud whining sound. And if I push on the accelerator it gets louder. I thougt it may be the belts. But looking under the hood, it seems to be coming from the middle of the engine towards the back. Any ideas?, now I'm to nervous to drive it!

has it been leaking any fluid like powersteering fluid? your powersteering pump will make a loud whining noise that will become louder as engine speed increases when the fluid is low.. a leaking intake or exhaust could cause the same kind of sound as well. id check those things before you really tear the car apart. also check your transmission fluid, especially if the sound goes away while in park.

I just checked my power steering fluid, and its really really low on the stick, I hope after filling it up the sound goes away. fingers crossed.. Thank you so much, let ya know if it does the trick!
