Tail lights

I have a 2012 Chevy Malibu I have brake lights but
my side and tail lights are out could it be  the wires

Most likely a fuse, they are on a separate circuit from the brake and headlights. So check for a blown fuse, if it blows again then start looking for crosscircuited lamps, shorted sockets and wiring.
