Nissan Altima

Asked by Chris Jun 13, 2017 at 10:16 PM about the 2012 Nissan Altima 2.5 S

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2012 Nissan Altima 2.5 s and I just bought
it 4 months ago, I got hit a week ago and it's a
minor dent in the back door and wheel , ever since
that hit my transmission has been messing up, right
after the hit I left to Vegas and 3 hours into the trip I
lost ALL horse power and it wouldn't even go to
5mph, I stopped through out the whole way and it
made a 4 hour trip into a 9 hour trip, I got codes
from the computer saying it was a mass air flow
sensor but I wanted to know if anyone has the same
problem or can it be that

Forget the dent thing, go off what the computer is telling you. a bad MAF would totally cause this. Newer cars have safety measures to kill the power to your driving if its a catastrophic issue. Think of the 2016/2017 ford explorers, their throttle bodies are failing so the cars are forced down to a wheel-barrow pace to prevent further damage. If the code says MAF, pull that puppy office, clean it with MAF cleaner, check the connection too... long shot but if it was loose and your accident nudged it further, that may be it. Good luck
