That's normal, especially given where you live. Engines are still hot when you shut them off, the fans need to run to continue removing heat from the cooling system. (In fact engine heat can increase when you first shut them off since water pump is no longer circulating coolant, as hot coolant expands from the heads and into the radiator, the cooling fans need to run to bring that temp down.

I have a 2015 Buick Encore. The fan stayed on after turning it off. I was told to let it cool off. An hour later the fan was still on, batt was dead. The car wouldn't start, we had to jump it.

The dealership told me the fuse block needs to be changed. It's shorting out. They think someone before me tried to jump start the car and switched the POS/neg. I haven't found a better answer.

I had the dealership fix the issue. Something from the previous owner happened to the fuse box. They replaced it, I've had no more trouble. They thought someone tried jump-starting it and crossed the POS/neg.

I don't think that cross post is true I'm positive that never happen to me. I replaced the cool fan relay #14 that solved the problem

if the fan does't shut off after A few minutes remove the cool fan relay than replace it than it should stay off. If it happen again replace the relay. ORallys less than the dealer

The fan should never run after the engine is turned off. I have a 2017 Buick Lacrosse and this happened. I turned it back on and the temperature gauge was on cold, although the car had been driven for an hour. I checked the wires to the Temperature sensor and couldn't unplug them. Went for a ride and the Temperature gauge worked. When I cut the engine off the fan stopped as it should. About 3 months later, it happened again. Did the same thing and it worked again. Happened the 3rd time last week and repeated the solution again and it is working now. If I could unplug the wires and clean the plug, I'm thinking it will fix it permanently.

Jack59hc , where are the wires you mention? I'm having the same problem on a 2017 LaCrosse. Online tech said it's the temp sensor under the intake manifold (what a STUPID place to put a sensor!!). Is that the wires you're talking about?

When the fans runs after shut off and the temp gauge shows cold, disconnect the battery for a few minutes to have the computer reset. Problem gone.

Have a 2017 Buick Lacrosse. Engine fan would not shut off when engine was shut down. Thermostat misread engine temperature as cold. Fan would turn off after about 4 minutes. As previously suggested by Joe, I disconnected the negative cable of the battery for a couple of minutes. When reconnected, whatever was awry was reset. Problem corrected.
