Had the same problem with my 2010 LaCrosse (160K). Pulled the relay (big square one 6048, 13500119) in the fuse box and it stopped. After the second time it happened I ordered a new relay on line and it is working fine.
I have had this same issue too. Sometimes pulling the relay fuse out (as the person mentioned above) in addition to reseating it after a couple minutes helps resolve this issue.
I have a 2012 Buick LaCrosse I turned the engine off and the fan stayed on a few mins is this normal? The temp gauge was in the middle but it didn’t run hot
