2012 ford escape

how do i start from a stop in 2nd gear? i have always started in 2nd gear
when about to go up a hill in the snow which is what I told my wife to do also
which worked well in her Taurus, but the Escape only has low & drive ,yet it is
5 or 6  speed automatic.

Just use the highly adjustable vehicle power control located under the right foot. It has been known to provide adequate vehicle restraint for most of its users over many years. Does your truck have traction control, if so it will handle it for you.
