Seems a lot of escape owners have the same issue. Most I have read about talk of idle air control valves being dirty or faulty and needing to be replaced. I would start there. Also some have mentioned that thier issue was caused by a faulty throttle position sensor. Hope this helps.

There is no idle air control valve it has electronic throttle body. Have put a ton of throttle bodies on escapes and fusions 4 and 6 cyl. Its a 2012 you should still have factory warranty. Take it to the dealer.
