The panel lights will go diim IF your driving lights go on, which indicates it is night time and bright das lights are not needed. Were you in a tunnel, eclipse, or in a storm? Did the driving lights get turned on manually by accident? Check that first. You also can control the brightness by turning the light button. Cleaning the vehicle sometimes the switch gets turned. Try all that before spending any money for new switches.
