do hid headlamps look different depending on where you stand while looking at the front of the vehicle ?

Asked by markay Apr 26, 2013 at 11:20 AM about the 2012 GMC Acadia Denali FWD

Question type: General

we replaced the left headlamp with a brand new oe assy. now the customer claims the otherside doesn't match - mostly the color at night - while he's looking at the vehicle in his driveway or while foolowing a family member who says it's different in her rearview mirror.

sometimes it could be the bulb life. as the light itself gets older, the bulb fogs up, or clouds up. changing and dampening the color and brightness of the light. it could also be the strength of the HID.

The most noticeable difference would be the color of the bulbs. HID bulbs are classified by different colors. The Kelvin (K) is the unit of color temperature. 4100K is the brightest, most natural white light similar to that of daytime sunlight, and therefore the HID color temperature used most in the OEM automotive industry. http://orca.st.usm.edu/~jmneal/tiburon/hids.htm
