MB C300 Feels as if my brakes and rotors are grinding

Asked by aylove196 Sep 23, 2017 at 05:04 PM about the 2008 Mercedes-Benz C-Class C 300 Luxury 4MATIC

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Whenever I let my foot off of the gas the car makes a soft
grinding noise and decelerates quicker than I feel it
should. I just had all four brake pads and rotors replaced
today (believing that was the issue) and it didn’t resolve
the grinding noise or deceleration. Could it be the
calipers? Anyone else had any experiences like this and
were you able to resolve it?

Assume a stuck caliper, although how anyone replacing pads and rotors didn't notice is beyond me. General rust in the wrong places can also produce a similar sound. Brake work must be clean, clean, clean.

I have the same issue. Car has brake malfunction light on and when I let off the gas it feels like brakes are applied. When it’s in neutral it’s fine. Shouldn’t be a caliper if it’s fine in neutral correct? Unless Mercedez has a feature with brakes that activates when it’s in gear. Also you hear the abs grinding when you switch to reverse or drive for a few seconds. Any good advice?
