am I suppose to use sealant on the front part of my oil pan

the oil pan gasket does not go around the front part of the oil pan

IT should,but if it is not there,yes use sealant,there should be a dip in the gasket for this.

Sometimes oil pan gaskets come in two pieces. You are missing one. Probably the part under the timing cover, that's why they are in two pieces, so if you have to take off timing cover you don't have to change the entire pan gasket. Sealant--silicone--.Permatex is not the answer you need the entire gasket

Could be, TST, I have only described what I have seen, you very well may be right and me off base

My factory manual shows the gasket as U shaped, open in the front. However does not show any other gaskets. The only mention of sealant is for corners ect.
