Yes you can drive it without the front drive line installed. But, I wouldn't keep it that way forever. Replace the CV joint. Simple process to perform yourself. The response that you can't drive it without the front drive line is incorrect.

I’ve taken my front drive shaft out before and would not move without it in Some how the Jeep has to have both driveshafts in to move something to do with the awd maybe

You CANNOT drive with the front driveshaft removed. I removed the front driveshaft on my 2007 commander 4.7l Quadra-Trac and tried to move it. Engine revved but would not move in any gear. Once the replacement shaft was installed it was back to normal. I don't know if the others in this thread have a different 4wd system?

Try it and let us know!.. Seems sum do sum dont due to diff 4wheel tcase setups.. Open diff style woodnt pull but a True quadratrack wood pull because its a positrack differential where both axles receive torque independent of 1 another.. Open diffs require both axles because needs resistance of 1 to make othwr axle turn.. Yours shood work!! As 2 wheel drive..

Every jeep can drive with rear drive shaft but you have to engage 4x4 and you can drive till 80km/h

I own a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited. For months I was chasing the dreaded death wobble well I finally fixed that problem and what do you know?! My Rear CV joint on my front drive shaft (t- case end) goes bad. Well with all the money I sunk into the front end I’m too broke to fix my CV joint At the moment. So I just pulled my driveshaft out and it rides and drives just fine if not better than it did with it in. I suggest not keeping it out forever but it will work for now. I also read that it could help me out with gas mileage too! Hope this helps for someone. Keep on Jeepin on!

What was it that was the problem with the death wobble? I replaced the trac bar, upper and lower control arms, outer tie rods, shocks. What else could be the problem. Gonna see of the u joints are good

I had the same problem with my 97 grand Cherokee. After replacing everything the death wobble would come back. I finally noticed that the trac bars tapered shaft was not fitting into the hole properly. The piece the is bolted to the frame that the trac bar mounts to was worn out the tapered hole was egg shaped so when I tightened up the tract bar it felt tight but the stress of driving would cause it to move and start death wobbling after a while. I went to a wrecking yard and bought that piece and replaced it finally it has been driving good.

No, you cannot. It will not move in any gear without the front driveshaft installed. Anyone who tells you it will, has no idea what they're talking about.

There's no way around disconnecting that front wheels because my axle broken out with the car don't move can I put the transfer case in two wheel only

Yes. Yes you can. I have a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo and it drives just fine without the front drive shaft. Drive shaft currently resides in back seat. Replacing it this week, but STILL DRIVES without.
