2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee Intermittent Starting Problem
Ran into some intermittent start problems about a year ago, same time.
(Cranks, does not fire.) We looked at the "solenoid wire" that reportedly
becomes corroded and took the car in for the ignition switch recall. After
both were fixed, we had no problems (March - November with no
problems. Even the "transmission over temp" error disappeared). A few
months ago a friend and I pulled of the main road to take some photos -- I
turned on my hazard lights -- and about two hours later my car failed to
start, but started immediately the second time. We thought it could
potentially be an issue with the alarm system preventing the car from
starting -- took it to an auto-electrician twice to run codes but he could not
find anything. He suggested we take it back to the dealer and get the
ignition switch replaced again (difficult to turn the key -- might result in a
bad connection). The dealer replaced the tumbler instead, thinking that to
be the problem. And so here we are, three months later with the same start
problem. I have noticed that the car starts completely fine after sitting for
hour or more. The car will not start after sitting for 15-45 minutes. Anything
below or above will usually always result in a start. Otherwise there is no
rhyme or reason to why it won't start -- moisture, no moisture, cold, hot.
Would love some additional insight into what this could be.
I just turn the key -- have not touched the gas pedal whether it starts or does not start.
I should mention, for anyone who might be curious. New battery, new AC, starter relays, and tested the grounds to make sure there's a good connection. All seems fine.
Hey guys ..I am from Trinidad & Tobago...I have a CRD 2007 GRAND CHEROKEE..had starting problems, thought it was d starter.. but no,dat was not the issue, after several days of checks with computer and other opinions, even switched the main fuse, finally we took out the ignition swicth and opened it up.We did the following. 1. Totally cleaned all the contacts. We noticed that they were black in colour ..stems from constant use. 2. We re-tensioned al the springs, and contacts. 3. Sprayed and cleaned. Reassembled ..One start and vehicle was running again.
