You should have a shop do it yes it needs to be evacuated, since the system has ben opened up. Glad you got the belt on...

hi. did you open up the ac system????ok..see you did..you should evac.the system..but you could get by without it ..but moisture and air is not good in the closed system...Harbor Freight has a cheap ($15) air powered vacuum pump. Vacuuming the system (perfect or near vacuum) draws out all the moisture/air..

Get a professional experienced technician to evacuate and recharge your a/c. Trying to fix it yourself will end up costing you money.
