Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2002 Chrysler Sebring LXI I was
coming up to a toll when the car just
suddenly went dead. the temperature

overheating .
roadside assistant came he flushed it out
with numerous amount of water and then
finally it started up again I was able to drive
it to the next exit and therefore wait for
towing to bring me back home.
I had one mechanic look at it he said it was
the water pump and was not worth fixing

From the information you give I cannot tell what the problem is but I would change the water pump if that is the problem. Why did the mechanic say ti was not worth fixing?
