Computer Problems, Car not Start

270

Asked by EzequielRdz Mar 20, 2014 at 06:35 PM about the 2002 Volkswagen Passat GLX 4Motion

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My car will not start and speedometers, tachometer, temperature and fuel are still lit  while the car is turned off, and the clock and odometer are blank.

A couple of times had happened and I used to reset the computer by removing and putting the battery cables solving the problem, but this time I removed them without sucess, I had even called to LTH and they confirmed the battery is working properly

If I turn on the stereo, this shows a "SAFE" message and then changes it to the number "1000"

I understand the computer is blocked by not recognizing the key or something like that, after some attempts to remove and replace the battery this is blocking the engine

Do any body knows what s going on?

Flood car. Just a guess. I bought one...actually my first VW way before your time and there were dead crayfish in the area behind the driver's seat...but it was so cheap I didn't care. I had no issues with the car at all as it was pre-electronic.
