04 sebring 2.7 rough idle

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Sebring 04, 2.7. I need a wiring diagram or assistance, or both!! trying to solve a spark/wiring issue. Engine has a random, erratic hiccup while idling. i played with the wires, and find that when i remove the connecter to coil 5 the engine smooths out. kinda like a steady miss, rather than an erratic one. i swapped coils, and the problem stays at cylinder 5. the wiring seems ok, have continuity with green wire in connector to ground, and it is hot with key on. Not sure how to test the other (brown) wire in connecter?  or where does the signal to fire come from    (just changed the water pump.new chain tensioner, and triple checked timing chain marks)

you try swapping out the spark plugs? or maybe even the injectors? the 2.7 is a good motor. ive never heard of this kinda problem

Thanks for the input! It turns out it was the plug. The ceramic was cracked and arcing. It was a new plug, which was why I didn't check it sooner. Thanks again for the input. As far as these engines, if they didn't have the water pump problem, id agree with you.

I have similar problem on Number 3.. new coil, new plug, new injector, good compression. miss goes away as soon as you touch the throttle. 50 rpms faster idle would cure it
