How can one easily disconnect from the battery terminals in a 2008 Chrysler Sebring convertible?

Heading North for the summer. Need to disconnect the battery. I know the battery is located below the left headlight. Is their an easier way to disconnect without having to get to the battery? I know there is a charging port in the engine compartment.

Why disconnect the battery? You could easily connect a trickle charger to maintain battery, or install a knife type positive disconnect switch in the engine compartment, which is what I did with a classic car I used to winter store.

Can you attach a trickle charger to the jumper port located in the engine compartment? Or can I disconnect the battery from the port area?
This type of charger can have clamps to connect at the jump post, or it may have a cigarette lighter plug. I'm glad you are pursuing this avenue, rather than disconnecting the battery, as the radio for one will need to be coded to resume function each time power is restored. New model cars like the sebring are loaded with electronics that require the battery to maintain learned settings, like the transmission for example. These will restore to original when the battery is disconnected. BTW, why the concern about drain while simply sitting? The charge will hold unless battery is on the way out. Or have someone start it monthly while you are away, just sayin'.

To answer the question... I find that removing the 3 screws that hold the black protective lining that makes up the wheel well to the bumper trim wrap around the easiest way to gain access to the battery vs having to take the tire off and back on. The one top screw is slightly larger in a almost vertical position that has a slotted flat head screw driver to remove and the others are typical sheet metal head you can put a socket on or a small box wrench to remove, Mine are 7mm heads. The top screw holds the bumper molding wrap around to the black plastic liner and bottom trim mold. once these are removed you just push the top edge of the bumper trim in the direction away from the tire forward and it well slide from the hook type mount, it just slides into the rubber coushened stud as a holding piece and just make sure you slide it back into place there before putting it all back together. If you have to remove the battery completley then the tire has to come off.
