This YouTube video does a nice job of explaining it...you actually have to remove a wheel to get at the battery, it seems...what a PITA! http://www.youtube.com/watch? v=kOoZFBLSyJU

First remove the driver side tire and then remove the plastic inserts the hold the plastic wheel cover liner on the left side of the wheel well.
