Engine dies when pulling up to intersection, usually first thing upon starting it for the day...

Asked by Travis Apr 23, 2016 at 03:40 PM about the 2003 Honda Pilot EX-L AWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

First thing upon starting my '03 Pilot, it idles fine, but when I put it in gear and pull out it has a tendency to die, especially when slowing down at an intersection. Low idle speed when stopped. It may do this three or four times and then be fine the rest of the day. The battery and charging system were checked at an auto store - for whatever that's worth - and they said it was fine.

Have it read for codes, even if the check engine light is NOT on the computer will have stored information and codes. Discount auto stores will read codes for no fee. Write them down.

Did you ever find out what the problem was with your Honda Pilot shutting down. We have the same problem when stopping at intersection it will shut down but can start up and drive without any issues and will do that randomly.
