2009 Chevy cobalt xfe MAF and Reduced engine power

My cobalt keeps tripping for a bad MAF that has now been replaced 3 times,
after the sensor starts reading as bad I then get the message popping up for
engine power reduced and am unable to accelerate with any speed and it
seems to top out around 45mph. Any ideas, when I take it to a mechanic
they say it's just the sensor replace it, it drives fine for a few months then
goes bad again? Thanks for the input in advance.

Is your air intake stock or has it been modified? What kind of air filter are you using?
It is stock everything and the filter has been the standard stock model used by the dealership.
That is strange... maybe a bad maf wire? You can buy specific mass air flow sensor cleaner at any auto parts store and is much cheaper than replacing one, it might be worth your while to try cleaning it and see what happens
Matts7107, did you ever figure it out? Mine started doing the same thing today. When it goes into the reduced power mode it ONLY fires on cyl 2. I found and repaired a few rubbed wires, but that hasn’t solved the issue. You have any luck??
We have a 2007 Chevy cobalt we get the reduced engine power light and it will reduce speed and sometimes stall has anybody figured out what is causing this and what should we do

Me too. Just took it to the auto parts store and the MAP (manifold absolute pressure) sensor code came up. The good news is the scan tripped the code so now my check engine light is off and the car is running great now. I was going to purchase a new MAP sensor ($62) and replace it myself but just doesn't seem like that would be the problem fort this. Any way leet is know if there is a solution root cause for this.

Have similar issue with this. Car battery died and had to have jumped. Got it runny but says, service airbag, service traction, eng pwr reduced. Haven’t had any previous issues until battery

Timothy.. where did you get it jump started at? The battery or under the hood?
Have them check the ECM. The computer in my 2010 chevy cobalt was dying and this caused me to have "reduced engine failure" It was about $600 to replace it.
MAF Code ,check the ground wires on the transmission . take the engine cover off and look down were the rad hose is and there are around five wires, this a main ground bolted to the transmission at the front. replace or clean , good luck
