2005 mustang 4.0 automatic

Asked by Kimbergirl Oct 08, 2018 at 02:49 PM about the 2005 Ford Mustang Coupe RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Just picked this car, it's a nightmare!!! Was running
like crap, throwing code for EGR. We put a new
EGR valve, radiator, and waterpump on it. Cleared
code and within 5 minutes code was back.
Currently will not start without holding gas pedal to
floor, will not idle or run unless RPM's are 2000 or
above. Runs great as long as RPM's are at 2000 or
above. It's making a sound that sounds like a rod
knocking, but it's not coming from the motor. Its
actually coming from the box on top of motor that
connects to throttle body if that makes sense.
There aren't any clogged filters or carbon buildup.
Any thoughts or suggestions??

Purchased from an individual, was idling rough when purchased but car started up and would idle no problem. Car was throwing egr code so we were assuming it would be fine as soon as replaced. We left car with individual, paid him to deliver the next day, car showed up 3 days later and now has a whole slew of issues. Lesson learnt, if you buy a car take it with you immediately.
