I took out my steering column from 02 mustang gt to replace the heater core. I put the same column back in and the key turns in the ignition but nothing happens

Sounds you like you forgot an electrical connection somewhere. What is the battery voltage? Did you disconnect the battery before tearing the dash apart? If not, then you tripped a fuse or fuses.
