Spark plugs are in the top of the valve covers. On any Ford I have ever seen, the firing order is on the distributor or on the valve cover. I presume yours is a 302, which is straight forward. It is also in the Haynes manual, the Chilton's manual, and just about anywhere. As an aside, the Ford Windsor engines have an eccentric firing order. Be very careful not to muddle the 2 and 3 or 6 and 7 wires. The car will run, but it will knock like crazy! Also, always use wire separators on those wires in particular. The last thing you need is for them to be out of sync. You can hole a piston that way.

Sorry, I got my engines mixed up above, and I can't delete it! The spark plugs on a Windsor engine are on the sides of the heads, sort of nestled in with the exhaust manifolds/headers. The are very easy to get to. Spark plug gap should set to 50/1000 of an inch. Always check. I have never yet installed a set of plugs where all 8 were set to spec from the package. While you are at it, change the rotor and cap. Very simple to do, and makes a big difference. The high voltage in the modern coils eats the electrodes fairly quickly. I normally use ACCEL brand and change them every 60,000 miles.

Disregard the above completely! It has been too long a night. I misread, and the instructions are for a 1992, not a 2002! I'm sorry. The 4.6 has the plugs in the valve covers. You also have coil on plug ignition, I believe, so no wires. Also, be very careful. There is a special tool for removing the coils, and you are still likely to break some of them. Replacements are about $100 a piece.
