Battery light on slightly...

Asked by EriC1500VBCH Nov 21, 2019 at 06:19 PM about the 2007 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LS Crew Cab RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My battery light is lightly (not fully) illuminated even when the truck is off.  When I start the truck the light becomes fully illuminated until it reaches 14v then it drops back to lightly illuminated.

Sounds like a bad voltage regulator. The voltage regulator is inside of the alternator and can't be replaced separately. However before condemning the alternator check the wiring going to it. Especially the wiring coming from the battery. Make sure all your connections are clean and tight! Hope that helps! Jim
