If the emissions warning light comes on & then goes out after 2 tankfuls of gas, do I still need to have it checked out

Just after filling up at a name brand gas station on a recent trip to AR, the emissions warning light came on.  We checked the gas cap; fine.  The light remained on throughout that tankful & the next, so I had our local GMC dealer check the truck out once we got home.   I was told they needed to replace some type of wiring harness; it had to be ordered.  The day before I was to take the truck back in for the repair, the emissions light went shortly a new tankful of gas.  The truck ran fine, no hesitation, rough idle, nothing but smooth performance throughout this whole deal.  Do we still need to proceed with the repair?

You've got to learn to STOP at the FIRST click...I kid you not, this is a hard habit to break, but once there is a long pause from filling and comes to a stop....DO NOT try to add more gas...it will flood the charcoal canister and temporarily disable the emissions control system~~

in short....DO NOT fill your tank...have someone who knows how to stop at the first click, thus saving your canister~
