loss of power under load

Asked by May 28, 2017 at 09:43 PM about the 2012 Ford Mustang V6 Premium

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Car starts up just fine and idles just fine. In Neutral the car revs okay all the
way to redline. Once in first gear the car seems to take off alright. Once in
second gear I notice a big loss in power. Once in third gear I can floor the
throttle and the engine struggles to rev and the car barely accelerates. I
tested the clutch in sixth gear and the car stalls with E brake applied and
letting off the clutch, so I dont think its a clutch slippage issue. Also, my
check engine light is illuminated and solid, not flashing. Car is still under
warranty so I will take it in first chance I get after the holiday weekend. Just
want to have an idea going in.. peace of mind, i guess.
