I own a 2012 Ford Focus SEL 5 door. The issue is with the dome light operation upon entry to the vehicle. When unlocking the door with the fob and then opening the door yields no dome light operatio

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

The dome lights in my Focus will not operate when opening a locked car.  If I then relock the car and unlock it again with the fob, the lights come on.  If the car then sits for more than 30 minutes, the dome lights will no longer illuminate.  The frustrating part is that 25% of the time the domes illuminate correctly.  Dealer seemed to not want to pursue the issue while under warranty.  All they ever said was the could not recreate the issue.

this is a function of the BCM (body control module)...seems like there is a problem with the bcm...have it reprogrammed by your dealership~ it is possible that a switch is bad...2012-2016 is a few years for one of them to fail~ examine the switches for a stickin' one...then have the bcm done up by the dealer~

It is very common for the door switch on these to get stuck or sticky - the switch is located in the latch assy - try a little shot of lubricant to see if that frees it up

clean the ground connections to the block and to the battery, Negative...wirebrush...hose it off~ get 'er clean~ reliability will increase without corrosion holdin' up the show~
