Battery voltage showing `14.03 with car on is the alternator good?

My car's battery was dead, I thought I might have left the lights on. So I
jump started it everything worked fine. As I was driving all dashboard lights
came on and the car died, I pushed it over to the side, Jump started it
again took it to auto zone, they said it was a bad battery so I got a new
one. Have not had any problems yet, my battery was only 2 years old, so I
am thinking could it be the alternator? so I performed the multi meter test, I
got 12.5 with the car off, 14.09 with car on. and 14.01 with Lights and radio
on. All answers are appreciated Thank you.

Bad batteries do happen. I seen 2 year old batteries die before. The numbers are right for the charging system. Give it a few days and you don't have any problems, I'd say the battery was the culprit.

14.04 is a good number for a charging alternator. It don't get any better.

Bring the car to Auto zone and have them load rest the battery for free...

My 2003 Toyota Corolla with 175,000 miles was showing the check engine light. My friend ran a check and the code P0770 came up, which is Shift Solenoid 'E' Malfunction. When I'm on the freeway, I do notice my car is slow on accelerating, but my MPG is fine. How much would it cost to get this fix? Also, would I fail the California SMOG check?
