Brakes locking up to where truck will not move at all.

Asked by philfattires1 Aug 08, 2016 at 09:39 AM about the 2011 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LT Extended Cab RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Master cylinder was replaced and fluid flushed first time. both front calipers replaces with front hoses and flushed again the second time. Locked up again in McDonalds drive thru in Ft Pierce, FL on a trip from Orlando to Ft Lauderdale. Very frustrated what else could it be.
note: After all cools down it goes back to normal like nothing ever happened. (the truck has 52k miles on it)

Bleed them again, it sounds like trapped air is still in the system. Brake fluid gets hot from use, trapped air expands as well from the heat and causes brakes to self apply or lock up. Check the condition of the flexible lines as well, if they look bad they can restrict return flow to the master cylinder.

I did replace the front flex lines, but what is strange, the fluid is dirty looking. Mechanic said "that's weird I must of put a gallon of new fluid thru it when I flushed it". I will have him re flush and help him bleed it again. any thoughts on why it would be like dirty water?
