Fuel pump

Hi, I have a 2011 Chrysler town and country touring
L. A while ago I had trouble starting. It would just
stick in the crank and not turn over. Also I'd find
battery completely dead. I was told to replace the
fuel pump. I replaced it, and it still has issues.
Currently the fuel pump will not shut off when I
turn off the car. I do have a check engine light on
that reads a code to replace the oil pressure
switch. Could that switch cause the fuel pump
issue, or is that a separate issue? And how do I fix
the fuel pump issue? Tired of disconnecting the
battery everytime I park the car.  Need help or just
gonna trade it or sell.

This is a known issue.... the relay for the fuel pump can get stuck open and can also get stuck closed. If it is closed the pump keeps going until it kills the battery. If it is open you get no fuel. You bought an expensive fuel pump that you probably do not need, sorry. The relay for the fuel pump is embedded in the underside of the fuse box (TIPM). There is a $25 kit to fix the problem but you do need to be somewhat mechanically inclined and also have and know how to use a soldering gun. There are a few DIY videos on how to do it now that you know what to search for you should have no trouble.

Thank you, I did purchase a by pass thing, but was advised not to do that. I'm not sure to go ahead and do it, or just replace the fuse box. Probably just replace it.

Bypassing the integrated fuel pump relay is exactly what the manufacturer did on Dodge Durangos and Grand Cherokees. My local dealership advised me to have that done. HOW Town and Country's were investigated for this issue and not actually part of the recall, I have no idea.

We got a “fuel pump relay” from advance auto parts. Replaced the different looking “k” designated relay in the fuse box and it worked. Part was under $15
