Locking/unlocking sound behind steering column after electronic keyless start/stop

Asked by TammyN Nov 08, 2013 at 03:15 PM about the 2011 INFINITI G37 Convertible RWD

Question type: General

My first time owning Infiniti. Is it normal to hear a locking mechanism sound behind the steering column after pushing the electronic start button. It also happens when pushing to stop after drivers door opens. Im thinking its some sort of anti-theft device. ???

Thanks. I called dealer and they said it is the anti-theft device that locks the steering column so the wheels don't turn.
