2011 Nissan Sentra engine revs high, has a high pitched whine.

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

2011 Nissan Sentra engine revs high (3000-4000+ RPM) and there is a high pitched whine
when going up hill only. Last mechanic said it was a mass air flow sensor issue and
replaced it. Problem still occurs. If cruise control is being used RPM's will become very
erratic and the car will die when coming to a stop. What should I look at or replace to
correct this problem?

I have 11' 2.0L Sentra as well and it whines and on road trips it limits me to 3,000 rpm after about two hours of driving but that can be due to 114 degree temp going up hill, The dealer said the transmission needs to be replaced.
