jetta 2011 tdi - radio is not working

Asked by Dorel May 19, 2015 at 07:10 PM about the 2011 Volkswagen Jetta TDI

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I talked with somebody about this, he said that there are some transistors on the PCB with no cooling. It is exposed more in the winter when heat is used. The radio is enclosed with no cooling. It has this steering control buttons witch makes it hard to replace with something else.
Volkswagen is not showing ay sign of recall. This proposal need to come from a dealer but as long as they get the $125 for evaluation, they are fine.
If anyone knows where to repair these radios please replay.

i don't know where to repair them but you can always check the wreckers for a new one. Just make sure the modal numbers are the same and you should beable to get vw to unlock it for you and give you the code

AJR International (www.ajrintl.com) is the authorized repair facility for VW radios. All the dealers do for their $125 is take it out and see if the fuse is bad on the back (more often than not, that fuse is good), and then tell you you have to pay for an exchange for a refurbished unit. They overnight it to AJR, who overnights one back,, You can send it to AJR and they will quote both actual repair and refurbished exchange so you can do whichever is less.
