Heat not working

Asked by Daryl Nov 10, 2017 at 10:15 AM about the 2011 GMC Terrain SLT2

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Hello how are you? I have a 2011 GMC Terrain , this
past summer I had water leaking on the passenger
side I want to be a goal when the AC was on. The
fan was blowing kind of on and off through the
summer. Now is just about winter time when trying
to use my heat but when it blows is very soft.
When I cleaned it out it sounds clogged in a fan
won't blow at all. And when it does blow it blows
out cool air so I take the Dow control pad and turn
it up and down from AC to heat then I hear a
popping sound and then my heat will come on.
Now today 20 degrees outside my fan is not
spinning at all I don't hear anything. Any idea what
could be going on?

Several things. The water in the compartment when the A/C is on, could be a plugged drain tube. Check to make sure it is clear. Thats what leaves moisture/water under the GMC when you park it after running the A/C. The intermitant fan, could be low coolant gas in the A/C or too much. I had a friend use the do it yourself tube of freon and his A/C fan would not go off. The computer tells the fan when to run and not to run. Make sure everything is correctly charged and see it that straightens out the mess.
