This morning I got in my 1997 cadillac eldorado and the battery light came on and it was running rough almost like it was out of gas but I have a full tank . It starts up every time what could it be ?

The battery connection was probably hot due to electrical resistance. Electrical resistance us usually caused by a corroded battery terminal connection. I would remove the connections at the battery, clean them and then re-install them. Also it may be a good idea to charge the battery and get it tested and check the alternator output. Alternator output can be measured at the battery engine running and should be 13.8 to 14.6 volts. If it is lower the alternator and or the voltage regulator made need to be replaced. The regulator is most likely part of the alternator on this model of vehicle.
